Cadwalader is at home with complex, high-stakes business disputes. Our clients – including companies throughout the Fortune 1000, financial institutions, hedge funds, underwriters, lenders, professional firms, corporate officers and directors, and high-net worth individuals – turn to us for help with their most difficult legal issues.
Our goal is to advance our clients’ interests. We work closely with our clients to understand their businesses, identify potential areas of exposure, create strategies to manage risk, and, when appropriate, resolve disputes before trial. When litigation is necessary, we draw on our extensive courtroom experience, skills in discovery, motion practice, and trial and appellate advocacy, and expertise in diverse areas of law. Having achieved tremendous success for our clients, we enjoy an outstanding reputation as creative and skilled attorneys in a wide variety of substantive areas.
The practice’s skillset is diverse. We represent clients in securities, derivative, ERISA and RICO class actions, SEC and stock exchange investigations and arbitrations, internal investigations, suits claiming breaches of fiduciary duty, insider trading or other misconduct by corporate directors, substantial financial instrument and other contract disputes, bankruptcy-related proceedings, and litigation arising from M&A or other transactions involving changes in or contests for corporate control in the Delaware Chancery Court and elsewhere. We are also adept at managing litigation accompanied by parallel regulatory and/or criminal investigations, often in conjunction with our White Collar Defense and Investigations practice. Responsible for a number of important and groundbreaking decisions by the courts, our litigators represent clients in disputes before U.S. federal and state courts, foreign and domestic arbitration tribunals, and regulatory agencies in the U.S. and in Europe.
